🐝 Apiary
300 South Riverside Plaza is home to a rooftop beehive program that sustains local flora and aids in honey bee research — part of ownership's broader commitment to urban ecology across its properties. In addition to environmental benefits, the rooftop apiaries produce unfiltered, organic honey. Beekeepers make multiple trips throughout the year to feed, frame, and winterize each of the colonies. Recent upgrades to larger hive boxes have provided for additional space for nectar storage and brood expansion. Currently, there are over 150,000 bees that produce an average of 30 pounds of honey each year.
